Microneedling Q & A

What is microneedling?

Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that uses small, sterilized needles to puncture your skin. These tiny wounds trigger your skin’s healing process, which leads to increased collagen, new tissue, blood flow, and elastin proteins. This fresh skin tissue is more even in tone, texture, and firmness.

Creekside Wellness uses cutting-edge Lutronic Genius® technology. The Genius’ superior needle and handpiece design allows exact precision when targeting your skin. You can expect to see results in as little as three microneedling sessions.

What does microneedling treat?

Microneedling is a great option for adults of all ages looking to improve:

  • Facial or neck wrinkles and fine lines
  • Skin tone or texture
  • Skin elasticity
  • Large pores
  • Sun, age, or liver spots
  • Dark spots
  • Stretchmarks
  • Facial scarring

Microneedling has also been shown to promote hair growth if you suffer from alopecia. It is more cost-effective than laser therapy and doesn’t rely on heat, reducing downtime and side effects.

The treatment is usually safe for most, but be sure to communicate with your provider if you have skin cancer, psoriasis or eczema, sores, certain allergies, or irritated skin.

What happens during a microneedling procedure?

Your provider applies topical anesthesia to numb your treatment area. They apply lift hydrogel to your face, allowing them to move the needle easily along your skin.

During the procedure, your provider uses the Genius microneedling tool to make small pricks under your skin. The Genius device adjusts the depth and range of its needles in real time. This allows it to specifically address your needs.

You may feel a warm or scratching sensation during the procedure, but you shouldn’t experience any pain. The process can take anywhere from 15 minutes to a few hours, depending on the size of your treatment area.

What happens after a microneedling treatment?

You may experience temporary inflammation, redness, or slight bleeding if the microneedling was deep. You should refrain from using makeup for a few days to avoid irritation or infection.

Your provider may suggest four to six treatments to achieve your cosmetic goals. Fortunately, you can expect collagen to continue generating three to six months after the procedure.

To preserve the microneedling results, take care of your skin and wear sunscreen daily.
